About
8-16-10

The last six months of my life have been an amazing adventure. The Lord has been working in incredible ways in Haiti. I am so thankful that God has allowed me to take part in this endeavor.
A brief update on my journey thus far. Haiti Outreach Ministries (HOM) has four compounds that it supports. I have grown very close to the church members, pastors, teachers, children and community. We have been working very diligently to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in these four areas. Personally, I have been involved in numerous construction projects. We have been building homes for individuals who lost theirs in the earthquake. We have currently built 48 homes. We have had 400+ individuals from all across the U.S.A. join us in this endeavor. It is amazing to see how God is working here.
Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 7:17 “Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him.” I believe that God is calling me to stay and continue to serve the people of Haiti. In order for me to continue my time of service in Haiti I need to ask people to stand beside me in prayer and financial support.
I am asking you to prayerfully consider joining me as I continue this journey of service. You can read more about HOM at www.HaitiOutreachMinistries.org. Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Before the Journey Began
My name is Stephen Byxbe. I am 24 yrs old. I was born in New Orleans, LA but have lived in the middle Georgia area for the majority of my life. I graduated from Mercer University in 2007 with a degree in Studio Art (Painting) and started a Graphic Design firm in Macon, GA. My business partner and I have been a part of numerous different endeavors which have taught me many lessons about life.
During the beginning of 2009 my walk with Christ and my faith began to really develop on a much deeper level than I had ever experienced. I began to feel like my calling in life was changing (or the real one was coming into view). I felt the need to go and serve God’s people who were in desperate need of help. In America we are so blessed. I have never been without. I have never had to fight for food, struggle to survive or go without. We take so many things for granted. I felt the calling to give up my “comfortable” setting and experience life without….
As I was trying to determine where God wanted me to go – or what options I had – I came across Costa Rica. I began to research it and had a pretty good feeling about it, but never felt 100% sure. I was sitting in a coffee shop with some friends one day talking about travel plans and Haiti came into discussion. This was Jan 12, 2010- the day of the earthquake in Haiti. I knew that there had been an earthquake, but did not know the intensity. At that moment I knew it was where I needed to go.. my desire to help people who were homeless and without food and water was met.
I look forward to getting to know the people in Haiti and being able to show God’s love to them through simple acts of kindness and love.
Thanks
Stephen Byxbe
