Twizzler for Lunch..
The staff were referred to as “Freaks of Nature” tonight. It as pretty funny. The groups were talking about how we are always everywhere, doing everything and we never get tired – no matter what. I just laughed.. thinking to myself “I am about to pass out I am so exhausted.”
Not gonna lie… today was stressful, but what can you say, it’s day one with 30-40 people. There is going to be confusion, standing around and potentially chaos. And let me tell you… we had all of the above. Craziness. Somehow we all managed to unite, like the planeteers in Captain Planet, and get all the work started. We are going to be on a role by the end of this week. Hopefully I make it that long. I think one group has a beach trip scheduled on Friday so maybe it will be an escape.
So today we had everyone at Cite Soleil painting and finishing the roof and setting up for the retreat. I got there and it was crazy from the start. I was working non-stop trying to find supplies.I was supposed to go pick someone up at 8am to give them a tour of all of the compounds and the work that HOM is doing, but I didn’t make it out there until after 10 am. I happened to walk past BMB around lunch time and he had some twizzlers, I grabbed one and called it lunch and then got back to work. The group I mentioned before (that called us freaks of nature) mentioned that I ran all over the place today and did all kinds of stuff and only ate a twizzler. Fun stuff if you ask me. It is just how life works down here.
I managed to get back to the compound after 6pm tonight – right before dinner. I had to go to Cite Soleil to fill up some more water containers. We go through water like air – it is crazy! But at least we have access to a lot of water (most days – thats an inside joke).
We had a million meetings tonight with everyone, starting at dinner with everyone, team leads, full group until just a few minutes ago.
My eyes are shutting easily.. SoI I am off to bed..
Always with Love
